Forest Fire Drill Conducted

In collaboration with Gölhisar Forest Management Directorate and Gölhisar Vocational School of Forestry Department, a Forest Fire Drill was conducted at our vocational school on May 15, 2024, at 10:00.

The first part of the event was attended by Gölhisar Forest Management Deputy Director Mr. Tahir YANGIN, İbecik Forest Management Chief Mr. Özgür Durmuş KAYA and his team with one initial response vehicle, two water tenders, and one initial response vehicle, forming a TEAM in the schoolyard. During the drill, the operation of the valve (pump) system in the vehicles, the equipment in the water tender (connectors, water and foam guns, mixer, low and high-pressure hoses, valves, separating valves, portable nozzle, filters), the use of water and foam with low and high-pressure hoses, personal protective equipment, hand tools, rescue bag and first aid kits, radio usage were practically explained to the forestry department students. After the application, a controlled fire was started in the schoolyard, and a drill was conducted on how to intervene in the fire, and the fire was intervened. Afterwards, the first part of the application was concluded in the schoolyard with the use of a super nozzle.

In the second part of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özdemir ŞENTÜRK and Gölhisar Forest Management Deputy Director Mr. Tahir YANGIN continued with a presentation on forest fires in the Conference Hall. After the presentation, a question and answer session was held regarding the drill. In the last part, the parties exchanged views with the department students regarding the planning of the next field applications.
